IMAX Corporation appoints new senior vice president of IR

Brett Harriss joins from GAMCO Investors

IMAX Corporation has announced the appointment of experienced portfolio manager Brett Harriss as its senior vice president of investor relations, effective from March 16.

Harriss is based in New York City and reports directly to Richard Gelfound, IMAX Corporation’s CEO. He joins from GAMCO Investors – formerly Gabelli Asset Management Company – where he held a number of roles during a decade-long stint.

Harriss most recently served as director of research for Gabelli’s sell-side research department, while also acting as portfolio manager of the Gabelli Global Content & Connectivity Fund, a technology, media and telecom-focused public mutual fund with $100 mn in assets under management. He covered IMAX Corporation for eight years.

‘Brett brings a deep understanding of the media and entertainment industry, his extensive relationships with investors, and comprehensive financial analytic experience,’ Gelfond says in a company statement. ‘His leadership will be critical as we continue to tell our growth story and capitalize on the unique value of our model and global reach with investors.’

In the same statement, Harriss says he has ‘always admired’ IMAX and that he looks forward to ‘identifying new opportunities to help shape [IMAX’s] growth initiatives and deliver enhanced returns on capital for investors.’

The recruitment process was concluded before the Covid-19 outbreak affected the ability to travel and meet face-to-face, a company spokesperson confirms.
