In April 2007, when Stephan Eger took the helm of the IR department at Deutsche Telekom in Bonn, he inherited an IR team of 34, a group ‘so large it would no doubt qualify for Guinness World Records,’ he jokes. Other major German multinationals had strapping teams of 14 or 15 people.
