People moves: Waud Capital, OceanSound and TCV name new IR heads

Matthew Albers, Julie Marracino and Julia Novaes Roux take on new roles

This week in investor relations sees private equity firm Waud Capital Partners promote Matthew Albers to the position of partner, to help drive the investor relations function.

Having joined Waud in 2019 as vice president of capital markets, Albers has helped grow the firm’s institutional investor base.

‘As Waud Capital Partners has grown, capital markets have become increasingly important,’ says Reeve Waud, founder and managing partner of Waud Capital Partners. ‘Matt’s promotion is in recognition of his leadership and expertise within this sphere, which has benefited the firm and our portfolio companies.

‘In addition, he has taken on a broader leadership role within WCP, creating co-investment opportunities and helping to drive investor relations. This is an important promotion in the firm’s continued evolution. Speaking for the entire partnership, we’re thrilled to call Matt our partner.’

Elsewhere, Julie Marracino has joined OceanSound Partners as its new principal for investor relations. Prior to this, she spent two years at venture capital and private equity firm TCV.

‘Julie brings proven investor relations experience to our firm from a lengthy career in private equity capital formation and client services,’ says Joe Benavides, managing partner of OceanSound. ‘We are confident her extensive experience with premier private equity firms and her robust network of relationships will be invaluable to OceanSound as we continue to expand our base of investors.’

Marracino brings more than 10 years of industry experience to her new role, having previously held the role of vice president of IR and capital formation at TCV.

Prior to TCV, she spent nearly nine years at The Blackstone Group, where several promotions in the firm’s private equity institutional client services and investor relations group saw her elevated to the position of principal.

Julia Novaes Roux has succeeded Marracino as general partner and head of investor relations and marketing at TCV, having joined the company in 2019. Novaes Roux also focuses on marketing as well as internal diversity, equity & inclusion efforts at the firm.

Jay Hoag, founding general partner at TCV, says: ‘As we are about to enter our fourth decade as a growth-focused technology investor, we continue to be very focused on developing talent and ensuring we build the next generation of leaders.’
