BT Group’s Mark Lidiard, veteran of several FTSE 100 IR and comms teams, to retire

Plus IR changes at Unifiedpost Group, Cassiar Gold, Transgene, Bunker Hill and CION

Mark Lidiard, BT Group’s IR director and a veteran of several FTSE 100 companies, will retire in May following the company’s full year results.

‘Mark has led our investor communications and IR through a critical phase of BT’s development, including the scale-up of our investment programs (FTTP, 5G), the launch and delivery of our £3 bn ($3.8 bn) transformation program and our response to the Covid pandemic,’ notes a company statement.

‘Over the last 20 years, Mark has been at the forefront of a number of major events, including the Chinese commodities boom while at BHP Billiton, the global financial crisis while at Lloyds TSB and being part of the team that sold BG Group to Shell for £47 bn.’

BT Group has undertaken a recruitment process to fill Lidiard’s position and expects to announce a successor ‘very soon’, the statement adds.

In other people news, Alex Nicoll will lead IR at Unifiedpost Group, the Euronext Brussels-listed provider of cloud-based business services, effective April 15.

Nicoll has a ‘solid background in finance and communication, ensuring a seamless transition and continued engagement with investors and the financial community,’ explains the company in a statement.

The appointment is part of a broader change in responsibilities, with Koen De Brabander taking over as CFO from Laurent Marcelis.

Cassiar Gold, the Canadian gold exploration company, has appointed Jason Shepherd to the role of senior investor relations officer.

‘We are pleased to add Jason to our team in a pivotal period for the industry and as we fund another exploration and drilling campaign,’ says president and CEO Marco Roque in a statement. ‘His experience as an investor relations professional and wide-reaching network [will] allow us to grow and diversify our shareholder base.’

Transgene, the French biotech company, has appointed Lucie Larguier, the company’s former vice president of corporate communications and IR, as its new CFO.

‘Having worked extensively with Lucie since taking on the role of CEO, I am convinced that her knowledge and experience make her an excellent fit as CFO at Transgene,’ says Alessandro Riva, managing director, chairman and CEO of Transgene, in a press release.

Bunker Hill Mining has named Brenda Dayton its new vice president of IR. Her previous IR and corporate communications experience includes roles at Japan Gold, Golden Queen Mining and Ivanhoe Mines.

Finally, CION Investment Corporation has announced the appointment of Charlie Arestia as managing director and head of IR.

Mark Gatto, co-CEO of CION, says in a statement: ‘We are thrilled to welcome Charlie to the CION team. His extensive experience in building strong investor relationships and familiarity with the wealth management industry and [business development companies] in general, align perfectly with our continued commitment to provide value to our shareholders
