China Resources Beer toasts quadruple success at the IR Magazine Awards – Greater China 2023

Consumer staples firm emerges as region’s biggest winner, with four trophies

The IR team at China Resources Beer (Holdings) Co was popping champagne corks at the IR Magazine Awards – Greater China 2023, after the listed brewer scooped four trophies at the gala event.

Other multiple award winners at the ceremony, which returned as an in-person event for the first time this year since 2019, included Kerry Logistics Network, CLP Holdings and Hon Hai Precision Industrial Co.

The top gongs went to Canvest Environmental Protection Group Co, which took home the trophy for best overall IR (small to mid-cap) and China Resources Beer, which won the award for best overall IR (large cap).

The Hong Kong-based alcohol maker also secured the title of best investor relations officer (large cap) for IR director Kevin Leung, as well as awards for best IR during a corporate transaction and best in sector – consumer staples.

Meanwhile, Iris Tsang, senior IR manager at Kerry Logistics Network, scooped the award for best investor relations officer (small to mid-cap). In addition, the shipping and supply chain company was crowned best in sector – industrials.

A future IRO of the year was also recognized in Pei-Ying Tsai, investor relations manager at Taiwanese computer parts manufacturer Chenbro Micom, who was named rising star. 

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co took home trophies for the best innovation in shareholder communications and best investor event, while CLP Holdings was recognized twice for its disclosure with awards for best annual report and best ESG reporting (large cap).

The IR Magazine Awards – Greater China 2023 are divided into two sections. The awards-by-research categories are decided by a survey of hundreds of portfolio managers, buy-side analysts and sell-side analysts covering companies across China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. These awards include best overall IR and best IR officer.

The awards-by-nomination categories see companies in the region send in entries explaining their work in key areas of IR practice, such as ESG reporting, digital communications and investor events. Here, the winners are decided by a panel of judges. For the 2023 awards, the panel of judges featured:
– Jack Chang, director, Taiwan Investor Relations Institute
– Stanley Choi, partner, Prospervest Family Office Group and COO, Wofoo Social Enterprises
– Laurie Havelock, editor-at-large, IR Magazine
– William Tsang, portfolio manager, Chartwell Capital
– Gabriel Wilson-Otto, head of sustainable investing strategy, Fidelity International.
