Didem Nisanci, global head of public policy, Bloomberg LP
Didem serves as Bloomberg’s Global Head of Public Policy. Before joining Bloomberg Didem was a Managing Director at Promontory Financial Group. Previously, Didem served for four years as the chief of staff of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In that role she was the lead adviser to Chairman Mary Schapiro on all issues involving the SEC, including policy, legislative, strategy, and communication matters. During her tenure as chief of staff, Didem also served as the SEC deputy to the Financial Stability Oversight Council and primary liaison with the Treasury Department, the White House, the Federal Reserve, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and other financial regulators.

Prior to the SEC, she was the lead adviser to Treasury Secretary Nominee Timothy Geithner after having been staff director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs subcommittee on Securities, Insurance and Investment. She managed all aspects of the subcommittee, including the development and implementation of its legislative and oversight agenda during the financial crisis. Earlier in her career, Didem served as legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. Jack Reed and held positions within the Department of the Treasury Office of Legislative Affairs & Public Liaison and the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Legislative Affairs.
