BlackSky Technology brings in Aly Bonilla as vice president of investor relations

Global monitoring company went public last year via merger with special purpose acquisition company

BlackSky Technology, the NYSE-listed provider of geospatial intelligence, has appointed Aly Bonilla as vice president of investor relations.

Most recently, Bonilla worked as vice president of IR at ORBCOMM, which was taken private last year. Prior to that, he held senior IR and finance roles at companies including Office Depot, Trulite Glass & Aluminum Solutions, ADT and AutoNation.

Bonilla holds an MBA in finance and a bachelor’s degree in business and education from Florida Atlantic University.

‘We are excited to welcome Aly to the BlackSky team and look forward to having him lead our investor relations strategy as we build a world-class program,’ says BlackSky’s CFO Johan Broekhuysen, in a statement.

‘Aly is a seasoned financial executive who brings a unique perspective and extensive experience in investor relations and financial planning for large, established companies, which will enhance BlackSky’s commitment to deliver long-term shareholder value and elevate our profile among analysts and investors.’

BlackSky offers global monitoring via a network of satellites and an AI-powered analytics platform. In December 2021, the company added a further two satellites to its constellation, bringing the total number to 12.

Last September, BlackSky went public via a merger with a special purpose acquisition company. The deal valued the satellite operator at $1.5 bn and made $283 mn available for investment.

‘I am truly excited to join BlackSky, a leader in the geospatial intelligence industry, at such a pivotal time in the company’s history,’ Bonilla tells IR Magazine. ‘I look forward to expanding the company’s name within the investment community and building a world-class investor relations program.’
