China Resources Beer, Kunlun Energy and Suncity dominate top awards at Greater China event

Each firm took the best overall IR and best IRO award in its relevant market cap

China Resources Beer, Kunlun Energy and Suncity Group Holdings between them won the most coveted awards at the IR Magazine Awards – Greater China, with each company taking the trophy for best overall investor relations in its cap size as well as the gong for best investor relations officer.

Kevin Leung won best IRO for China Resources Beer in the large-cap category, Zhao Hailin for Kunlun Energy in the mid-caps and Winnie Lei of Suncity Group Holdings saw off all competitors in the small-cap category.

China Resources Beer was also named best in its sector (consumer staples), as was Kunlun Energy (utilities).

The awards are split across two groups. The awards-by-research categories, which cover best overall IR, best IRO and best IR in sector, are based on a survey of investors and sell-side analysts who cover companies in the region, with respondents voting for their favorite companies and individuals.

As well as the researched awards, 12 trophies were given out in the awards-by-nomination categories, where companies can submit entries across a range of subjects for judging by an expert panel.

This year’s panel featured:

  • Paul Milon, ESG specialist for Asia-Pacific, BNP Paribas Asset Management
  • Garnet Roach, senior reporter, IR Magazine
  • William Tsang, head of research, Chartwell Capital
  • Simon Weston, senior fund manager, AXA Investment Managers
  • Gabriel Wilson-Otto, director of sustainable investing, Fidelity International.

The best annual report category was split by cap size, with Link Asset Management, Xtep International and Sa Sa International taking the trophies in the large-cap, mid-cap and small-cap categories, respectively.

China Telecom took the award for best crisis management. The best ESG materiality reporting award was also split by cap size, with CLP Holdings taking the large-cap category and Kerry Properties winning in the small to mid-cap group.

China Life Insurance Company won the award for best large-cap investor event, while ZhongAn Online P&C Insurance Co won in the small to mid-cap category.

Kerry Logistics Network won the award for best IR during a corporate transaction, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co for best IR website and ZhongAn Online P&C Insurance Co for best use of multimedia for IR.

Christine Yang of Central China Real Estate took the rising star trophy while Jacky Yung of China Unicom received the lifetime achievement award.
