Former NIRI chair Haertel joins CVS Health

Valerie Haertel has held senior IR positions at Teladoc, BNY Mellon and State Street Corporation

CVS Health has appointed Valerie Haertel as its new senior vice president of investor relations. Haertel joined the company on July 25.

She succeeds Mike Maguire, who left CVS Health in April after 22 years to join Macys as vice president and head of investor relations. Haertel reports into Eva Boratto, CVS Health’s executive vice president and CFO.

‘Valerie’s sound judgment and deep expertise will help us communicate the ways that our powerful and unique business model put the consumer at the center of their care, while creating value for all of our stakeholders,’ Boratto wrote in a recent note to the investment community. ‘I am confident that we will benefit from Valerie’s leadership and experience as we demonstrate the ability of our programs and products to change the way people think about and address their health.’

Haertel most recently led investor relations at Teladoc while the company looked for a new CFO. She has also served as the global head of investor relations at BNY Mellon, senior vice president of investor relations at State Street Corporation, vice president of investor relations at Medco Health and director of investor relations at AllianceBernstein.

Haertel was the NIRI board chair from 2017-2018, during which time she played an influential role in the search for current NIRI president and CEO Gary LaBranche.
