Duration: 45 minutes
The circumstances around Covid-19 this year prompted a faster adoption of virtual shareholder meetings (VSMs) than even the most optimistic VSM provider could have wished for. If you’re reading this, you probably hosted or participated in a VSM this year – and it may have been your first time. According to data from Broadridge, it will have hosted about 2,000 online gatherings by the end of this year, up from 326 events in 2019.
While some issuers may never return to in-person annual meetings, there are many who are weighing the pros and cons of VSMs ahead of next year’s season. Consideration will be given to the participant experience – enhancing the functionality for issuers, directors and shareholders – as well as enhancing the Q&A section and presentation of shareholder proposals to provide more transparency.
In this webinar, we will engage a range of virtual shareholder participants to debrief on this year’s season and look ahead to discuss the enhancements we can expect for next season. We will cover:
- The additional functionality expectations that issuers, directors and shareholders have of technology providers heading into next year
- How issuers can manage full-length meetings next year and the tools required to do so
- What can be done to create greater transparency in the handling of the Q&A, to ensure investors feel their voice can still be heard in the virtual format
