Integrity. Literacy. Numeracy. Patience. A cool head. Intelligence. Charm. Honesty. Openness. Discretion. Affability. Accessibility. Flexibility. Sociability. Fearlessness. These are just some of the qualities to be found in a first-rate IRO. Oh, and humor, of course. Withstanding the onslaught of queries from tiresome moms & pops, never mind bolshy analysts and inquisitive portfolio managers, requires a sense of humor perhaps beyond all else.
