EIRIS boosts ESG coverage of Latin America

Brazil-based Sitawi to add to existing EIRIS corporate ESG research

EIRIS, which specializes in ESG research, will team up with Rio de Janeiro-based ESG research firm Sitawi to bolster its coverage in Brazil and other Latin American nations.

Sitawi will offer the whole suite of EIRIS research products in Brazil and add to the research the firm already conducts on more than 3,200 companies, with an emphasis on local insight in Brazil, EIRIS says in a press release.

‘Investors will now have access to ESG research on Brazilian and Latin American companies of the greatest breadth and depth, and with added local insight,’ says Gustavo Pimentel, managing director of Sitawi, in the release. ‘This partnership will also enable our local investors to access the EIRIS global platform, a seamless delivery channel to global ESG research.’

Sitawi, founded in 2008, has a 19-member team across São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, which advises financial institutions on incorporating ESG principles into their business strategies. The company says on its website that it has carried out analysis on more than 80 companies and monitors them daily.

With the addition of Sitawi to its network, EIRIS now spans 11 cities worldwide. Besides Brazil, the organization works with partners in Australia, Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Spain and South Korea. EIRIS, a signatory to the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Investment, has more than 200 clients, including banks, asset managers and asset owners across the world.

‘Partnering with regional experts of Sitawi enriches the research we offer investors on Brazilian and Latin American companies, and strategically bolsters EIRIS’ presence in the region,’ says Stephen Hine, deputy CEO of EIRIS. ‘The structure of the EIRIS network is designed to enhance the quality of research and services provided to investors – combining global expertise, local insight and thought leadership.’
