Shenandoah Telecommunications appoints new CFO

Telecommunications veteran Jim Volk has 24 years’ industry experience

Virginia-based and Nasdaq-listed Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) has announced the appointment of telecommunications veteran Jim Volk as CFO.

Volk has been in the telecommunications industry for 24 years, having served in a number of senior IR and financial management roles with both large corporations and high-growth early-stage telecommunication providers. He most recently served as vice president of finance and IR at Uniti Group, a publicly traded real estate investment trust of telecommunication assets and operating businesses, from 2016 to 2018.

This appointment comes after the previous CFO, James Woodward, resigned from the role in April, having successfully completed the reorganization of the company’s financial reporting procedures.

Volk holds a BSc in accounting from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Villanova University.

Christopher French, president of Shentel, says in a statement: ’As our chief financial officer, Jim will have primary responsibility and oversight of all finance and accounting matters for the Shentel organization, and will play an integral role in our business development and investor relations activities.’

In so doing, an important part of Volk’s job will be to keep steering Shentel’s stock in a successful direction: the company’s shares have performed well over the last year, rising 34 percent since June 2018 and outperforming the S&P 500 by 30 percent.

Spurred on by a positive outlook, New Jersey-based insurance and investment company Prudential Financial revealed it grew its shareholding in Shentel by 72 percent in the fourth quarter of last year.
