SAIC hires John Sweeney

Former NASDAQ IRO to take on IR at company’s IT business spin-off

John Sweeney, the former IRO of NASDAQ OMX, is joining NYSE-listed Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to serve as senior vice president of investor relations for Leidos, the firm’s planned national security, health and engineering solutions spin-off.

An MBA alumnus from the University of Notre Dame and a chartered financial analyst, Sweeney is a seasoned investor relations professional who has earned multiple awards in recognition of his work. In 2012 he won the IR Magazine Award for best IR professional at a US mid-cap company while serving as vice president of investor relations at Sirona Dental Systems.

Prior to Sirona, he served as the IR director for Weight Watchers International, as an equity analyst covering the advertising and publishing sectors at Citigroup, and as a valuation consultant at PwC.

Headquartered in Virginia, SAIC provides scientific, engineering, systems integration and technical services to the US Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and the intelligence community. In August 2012 the firm announced its intention to separate into two independent and publicly listed companies, with the creation of Leidos, a new entity devoted to government technical and IT services.

Welcoming Sweeney in a company press release, CFO Mark Sopp says: ‘John brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and financial insight that will enable him to effectively communicate with investors and help give a strong start to Leidos. He will work to build on existing relationships and develop new ones within the investment community, and also to provide transparent, timely and insightful information to our constituents. He is a welcome addition to our team.’
