Publicis Groupe appoints new head of IR

Alessandra Girolami to take on role in March

French advertising and PR firm Publicis Groupe has appointed Alessandra Girolami as vice president of IR and strategic financial planning, effective March 4.

She will report to Jean-Michel Etienne, group CFO and a member of the board of Publicis Groupe. Chi-Chung Lo, investor relations officer, will continue to handle relations with investors, shareholders and analysts, and report to Girolami.

Most recently head of IR with Swiss building materials multinational LafargeHolcim, Girolami began her career at Dutch bank ABN AMRO as a sell-side analyst. In 2005, she joined French retailer Carrefour Group’s IR department and was promoted to head of financial communication and IR in 2014.

A graduate of business school ESCP Europe, Girolami holds a research degree in applied economics from the elite IEP of Paris.

She succeeds Jean-Michel Bonamy who has been appointed CFO of Publicis Groupe Africa, based in Johannesburg. This appointment is part of the ongoing implementation of a ‘one country’ model around the world.

Last week Publicis Groupe posted weak quarterly results, blaming the dip on consumer goods clients in the US cutting back on spending on traditional advertising.
