Norwegian web browser provider hires IR lead

Derrick Nueman joins Opera

Opera, the Norwegian web browser provider, has appointed Derrick Nueman as vice president of investor relations.

Nueman, who is based in the US, joins from Pandora Media, where he helped to reposition the company, resulting in its $3 bn sale to SiriusXM, according to a statement.

Prior to this, he spent 10 years at TiVo as vice president of investor relations and strategic finance. Nueman was also director of IR for Ask Jeeves and worked as a publishing analyst at JPMorgan, focusing on internet and digital media companies.

‘Opera has consistently delivered strong financial performance in terms of both strong revenue growth and attractive profitability, and we’re excited about our future as we continue to increase our user base and improve monetization,’ says Frode Jacobsen, chief financial officer of Opera, in a statement.

‘Having listed on Nasdaq in July 2018, Opera is a relatively new public company and we need to pair our operational performance with awareness in the investor community to build long-term value for our shareholders. Derrick has a proven track record of both clearly articulating a company’s value proposition to investors and helping companies optimize their strategy and performance.’

Nueman adds: ‘As investors better understand Opera’s performance and potential, I believe there is a tremendous opportunity to drive meaningful shareholder value.’

According to Opera, it is a web browser for Microsoft Windows, Android, macOSand Linux operating systems.
