New vice president of IR at Coty

NIRI-NY board member Friederike Edelmann takes on IR as the fragrance maker plans to go public

Coty, the international beauty and fragrance company, has hired Friederike Edelmann as vice president of investor relations. She joins from SAP where she has served since 2002 as manager of investor relations and subsequently director of investor relations.

A seasoned IR professional, Edelmann has previously worked for insurance company Mannheimer Versicherung, technology start-up InterComponentWare and IT consultant Realtech. She started her career as a sales representative at Unisys.

Edelmann received a joint BBA degree from the Accadis Business School in Germany and Florida Atlantic University, and a master’s of finance degree from the Graduate School of Business Administration in Zurich. She is a current member of the board of directors of NIRI’s New York chapter.

Coty’s change of CEO has also been announced. Michele Scannavini, president of the company’s luxury branch Coty Prestige, stepped up as CEO on August 1, replacing retiring CEO Bernd Beetz.

These appointments come after the company, which is privately owned by the German family Reimann, announced last June that it had filed for an IPO. Coty has recently failed in its attempt to purchase rival Avon Products.
