New president and IRO at Veris Gold

Vancouver-based gold miner hires seasoned natural resources professional as vice president of investor relations

Joanne Jobin is taking on IR at Canadian mining firm Veris Gold, according to a company press release that also announces the appointment of Robert Chapman as the firm’s new president.

A seasoned IR professional, Jobin started out in the profession developing the first IR and marketing programs for Canadian miner Barrick Gold 25 years ago. She joins Veris Gold from Excellon Resources, a Toronto-headquartered mining firm operating in Mexico and Canada, where she has served as vice president of investor relations since 2011.

Jobin is the founder of IR.INC, an investor relations consultancy firm specializing in the natural resources sector. Her prior experience includes the management of IR, corporate affairs and communications programs at JPMorgan, Canadian Tire, HEPCOE Credit Union, IAMGOLD Corporation and Noront Resources.

Shaun Heinrichs, who serves as both co-CEO and CFO for the company, says of the appointment: ‘We believe Ms Jobin will be a valuable addition to the Veris Gold team and look forward to her contributions in the near future.’

The TSX listed-company, previously known as Yukon-Nevada Gold, is focused on ‘developing and operating gold mines in geo-politically stable jurisdictions’. It has its main operations north of Elko, Nevada in the Jerritt Canyon gold mines, with additional precious metal assets in British Columbia and the Yukon Territory in Canada.
