New IRO for alternative investments at PENN Capital

Richard Griffith hired to market firm’s event-driven hedge fund

Independent US investment management firm PENN Capital Management has appointed Richard Griffith to a newly created position overseeing investor relations for the company’s alternative business.

He joins from Barclays Capital, where he had been working since 2008, first as an analyst in the financial institutions group, and most recently as an associate vice president for the liquid market sales trading desk. In the latter role, he was responsible for relationships with institutional and individual investors, according to a company press release.

Prior to this, he served as an analyst at Lehman Brothers and Credit Suisse.

Griffith graduated from Cornell University with a BS in economics and management and gained an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

Philadelphia-based PENN Capital manages $7.2 bn, mainly for institutional clients, and specializes in ‘high-yield, fixed income and micro-to-mid capitalization equity portfolios’.
