New IR director at Cardero Resource

Seasoned mining specialist takes on IR at Vancouver-based coal and iron ore producer

Canadian mining firm Cardero Resource has appointed Andrew Muir, a former mining analyst and investment adviser, to serve as director of investor relations. He replaces corporate communications manager Nancy Curry who has been overseeing IR since 2011.

A geology graduate of the University of British Columbia and a chartered financial analyst, Muir has more than 25 years’ experience in the investment industry and strong expertise in the mining sector in particular.

He joins Cardero from Haywood Securities, a Vancouver-based independent investment dealer, where he served as an investment adviser covering retail and institutional clients.

Prior to this, he held several positions as a mining analyst at Canadian brokerage houses Canaccord Capital Corporation, PI Financial and Yorkton Securities.

His new role will focus on expanding Cardero’s shareholder base and communicating ‘the corporate direction for development of the company’s Carbon Creek metallurgical coal project’, one of the largest deposits in Canada’s Peace River region.

‘Mr Muir’s background and market experience complement a highly skilled and dedicated team that is motivated to unlock the value of the Carbon Creek asset and deliver that profitability to our shareholders,’ comments CEO Michael Hunter in a press release. ‘With the addition of Andrew Muir, the company has better positioned itself to ensure timely and accurate information is delivered to our shareholders and to the capital markets. We intend to make other key additions to the team in 2013.’
