IR professionals favor in-person events over virtual in 2022

Investor Events report finds investor conferences are most common event to attend

More IR professionals attended in-person than virtual formats for every style of investor event in H2 2022, according to the latest Investor Events report.

In the 12 months from the third quarter of 2021 to the third quarter of 2022, IROs at seven in 10 companies attended investor conferences in person, while nearly eight in 10 attended virtually. Just over two thirds hosted virtual roadshows, compared with 54 percent who went on the road in person.

Return to in person

There were several in-person events held by IR Magazine in 2022, spread out internationally to include locations such as London, New York, Palo Alto and Toronto.

At last year’s IR Magazine Think Tank – East Coast 2022, the event heard from a mix of senior IROs, investors and expert advisers, and sought to help companies and their IR teams chart a path through one of the most volatile markets on record.

The day kicked off with a discussion on macroeconomic conditions, from record levels of inflation to the war in Ukraine and slowing global growth. Amid tightening fiscal conditions, cash was more valuable than ever, the audience heard.

Different perspectives

Later in the year during the in-person ESG Integration Forum – Europe 2022, held in London, leading IR, sustainability and governance professionals gathered to share insights and expertise on ESG issues facing UK and EU companies.

The forum was an opportunity to hear different perspectives and stories about ESG integration from corporates, investors and IROs.
