Edison launches IR business for private and public companies

Service will help companies identify new pools of investment capital

Edison Advisors, the investor relations and consulting arm of the Edison Group, has launched a full-service IR business for private and public companies to access its analysts and reach diverse pools of investment capital.

The service is grounded in helping companies identify new pools of investment capital, tapping into an extensive network of institutional investors, specialist funds, family offices and high-net-worth, self-directed and strategic investors.

Such services assist private and smaller companies seeking early-stage investors that will partner their business over the medium to long term, and larger companies that are looking for more sophisticated approaches to investor targeting outside of the narrow band of institutional investors that trade through the major sell-side firms.

‘Changes in regulation and Mifid II have seen institutional investors dramatically reduce their broker lists,’ explains Rachel Carroll, global head of investor relations at Edison Group. ‘This still has a major impact on small to medium-sized publicly traded companies that compete for capital amid an ever-decreasing pool of institutional investors.

‘Coupled with the pressure on asset managers, notably a trend for passive investing and pressure on performance and fees, it is increasingly difficult for early-stage companies to identify and engage with active fund managers who can partner them through the early phases of growth. Edison not only identifies the optimal profile of investors to evolve a client’s shareholder register, but also builds tailored programs to communicate, engage and influence the target audience.

‘This is achieved through working with our expert analysts across all sectors to build strategic messaging and educate investors, as well as dedicated investor relations professionals who support clients from our offices in New York and London.’
