3i Debt Management expands Asian investor relations

Asia-dedicated IR director hired six months after appointment of Europe-focused counterpart

3i Debt Management (3iDM), part of the FTSE 250 global private equity group 3i, has appointed Lisa Johnson as a Singapore-based investor relations director, in charge of developing the company’s growing Asian business. The announcement comes six months after the London-headquartered firm added Melissa Tessier as an IR director focusing on Europe.

Johnson, who spent seven years working in Asia, with roles in Singapore, Mumbai and Shanghai, was most recently a senior vice president at Parker Global Strategies, a Stamford, Connecticut-based alternative investment management firm, where she oversaw investor relations for the Asia-Pacific region.

Her IR experience comprises building relationships with ‘leading investors, including sovereign wealth funds, family offices, pensions funds, endowments and foundations,’ according to a company press release.

Welcoming Johnson to the company, managing partner and CEO Jeremy Ghose says: ‘Lisa’s appointment is an important step in realizing our ambitions to build a global credit platform and client coverage model. Our expanded business will ultimately strengthen our investment offering and provide Asian investors with access to the European and US private debt space. We are pleased to have her join the team.’

Launched in 2011, 3iDM currently has £6.4 bn ($9.5 bn) in assets under management, a figure that has doubled in the past year. The firm manages 24 funds, including collateralized loan obligations, credit opportunities, managed accounts, a private equity fund of funds and mezzanine debt.
