IR Magazine reveals the Global Top 50 ranking for 2017

Global ranking based on surveys of investors and analysts

Each year, IR Magazine surveys investors and analysts across the world to provide the research for our regional awards events. Over the last 12 months, we’ve held awards ceremonies in Europe, Brazil, Canada, US, Greater China and South East Asia.

But IR today is a global business, so we also like to find out which companies are the best IR performers across markets. After all, the principles of top-class investor communications should hold true wherever you are based. To accomplish this, we bring together the findings from our regional surveys and combine them to form an international ranking of IR departments.

The Global Top 50 comprises the winning companies and best runners-up in IR Magazine’s regional awards, as voted for by the investment community. Each individual ranking is based on total points received across all categories, divided by the number of survey respondents and multiplied by the region’s market cap. In this article, we are delighted to reveal the constituents of the 2017 rankings in alphabetical order – congratulations to all the companies included this year.

The US has put in a strong performance, providing 21 companies in the Top 50 in 2017, including Sherwin-Williams and Jack in the Box, which won three gongs each at the IR Magazine Awards – US 2017 in March.

European companies make up 13 constituents of the rankings, all of which received high scores at the IR Magazine Awards – Europe 2017 in June. Among them, you’ll find five German companies, including BASF and adidas, highlighting the strength and depth of IR teams in this market.

Greater China and Canada provide five issuers each, while four come from Brazil and two from South East Asia: KASIKORNBANK of Thailand and Metro Pacific Investments of the Philippines.

The order of the top 20 will be revealed at the IR Magazine Global Forum, a two-day conference bringing together companies from around the world, which is due to take place on October 3-4 in Paris. We look forward to seeing many of you there.
