Why it’s important to have fun on the road

IR Magazine caught up with Pat Marshall, vice president of communications & IR at Cineplex and winner of the lifetime achievement award at our recent industry awards in Canada

Pat Marshall was joined by her brother and Cineplex CEO Ellis Jacob at the recent IR Magazine Awards – Canada, where she was presented with the lifetime achievement award.

During our brief red carpet interview before the gala dinner, Marshall outlined why it is so important to have fun when working in investor relations.

‘I said to the CFO when I was asked to take on the role of investor relations, I’ll only do it if you agree that we can have fun when we’re out on the road,’ Marshall told IR Magazine. ‘We put in amazingly long hours, we’re travelling… it can be very intense at times.

‘You’ve got to be able to laugh at yourself and I’m certainly one of those people who needs to laugh at myself. Also I think our investors remember us a little bit more because they enjoy spending time with us.’

Jacob agreed: ‘She’s an awesome individual to work with… she works hard, and she plays hard’.
