People moves: A new port for Royal Caribbean’s IR chief Michael McCarthy

New IROs also in place at Adient and Ameris Bank

Michael McCarthy, who has captained the investor relations ship at Royal Caribbean Group for the past three years, has moved to Silversea Cruises, which Royal Caribbean describes as the ‘jewel in the crown’ of its global cruise group.

At Silversea, McCarthy takes up the newly created role of vice president of transformation, reporting to the company’s president Barbara Muckermann and taking responsibility for the group’s brand integration.

McCarthy has spent 15 years at Royal Caribbean, taking on different roles in on-board revenue, consumer outreach, sales and service, and as on-board marketing manager, before moving into IR.

‘We have a long-standing commitment to developing our employees and providing them with the opportunity to advance their careers,’ says Royal Caribbean in a statement congratulating McCarthy on his new role.

The company, which was nominated for the award for best investor event (large cap) at the IR Magazine Awards – US 2023, is currently searching for a new head of investor relations.

Elsewhere, car-seating maker Adient has announced the appointment of Mike Heifler as its new vice president of investor relations and strategy.

Heifler joins the NYSE-listed automotive firm from PHINIA, where he served as vice president of investor relations, prior to which he led the IR team at General Motors. Before that, he had an extensive career on Wall Street in equity and fixed-income fundamental research, covering the automotive sector.

He succeeds Mark Oswald, who was appointed Adient’s CFO in January 2024.

‘I’m looking forward to working with the team and helping to create significant shareholder value,’ Heifler writes on LinkedIn.

Finally, Ameris Bank has announced that Brady Gailey has joined it as executive director of corporate development, a role that includes responsibility for investor relations.

Prior to joining the Nasdaq-listed regional bank, Gailey served as managing director of equity research at Keefe Bruyette & Woods, where he had more than 16 years’ experience covering more than 75 publicly traded banks.

‘Brady has an extensive background in the banking industry and a history of covering Ameris Bank, which gives him a unique insight into our company,’ says Ameris CFO Nicole Stokes. ‘His leadership and strategic thinking will add tremendous depth to Ameris as we continue to grow our strong franchise.’

‘I am pleased to join Ameris Bank and look forward to the opportunity to contribute to corporate development and strategic decision-making with a leadership team I have followed and admired for years,’ Gailey says.
