HC2 names new head of IR and PR

InVision IR founder joins New York-listed holding firm

HC2, an NYSE-listed diversified holding firm previously known as PTGI, has hired Andrew Backman to serve as managing director of IR and PR, reporting to president and CEO Philip Falcone.

Backman joins from RCS Capital, an investment firm focusing on individual retail investors, where he held a similar position for the past two years.

In 2011, he founded the New York-based advisory InVision Investor Relations, having held senior IR roles at commercial real estate finance firm iStar Financial and communications service provider Corvis Corporation (now part of Level 3 Communications).

The Boston College alumnus is a graduate of AT&T/Lucent Technologies’ financial leadership program, subsequently spending 10 years at the firm in various departments including finance, accounting, PR and M&A. He also served as the telecoms equipment firm’s IR director from 1996 to 2000.

‘Andy brings tremendous experience and value to the HC2 senior executive team,’ comments Falcone in a company release. ‘He has a proven track record of helping companies create value by building and strengthening relationships with major institutional investors, individual and retail shareholders and leading research analysts worldwide.

‘Andy’s significant and award-winning investor relations expertise and his ability to develop and implement strategic communications platforms will become an important component of our long-term growth strategy.’
