The high price of missing expectations
October 1999 was not a good month for Unisys Corp. After years of rewarding the Blue Bell, Pennsylvania-based computer service provider with an everblooming stock price, investors lashed out after an unwelcome and unexpected drop in sales. Shares in Unisys plummeted 37 percent in a single day, ending the year, not to mention the 20th century, on an unpleasantly sour note.
